help coolshows
Thanks for taking an interest in helping out with coolshows. There's two buckets of ways to help the site.
The first list here is immediate and practical ways to help with day-to-day operation
- Taking up a scene correspondant role: you would be responsible for making sure shows in a
particular
city/neighborhood/boro or genre made it on the calendar in a timely fashion. This would take load off the
main team who could then spend more time further developing the website.
- Info on image hosting solutions: the current hosting solution is somewhat untennable and I
am not a web
developer by trade or education.
- Small direct financial contributions: websites cost money to keep up and it would be great
if coolshows had
a more stable guarantee of being online over the years.
- Grant info and grant writing assistance: alternative money source. There has to be some
kind of archivist
grant out there right?
- Web dev expertise: as I said, I'm not a web dev by profession or trade. Direct
contributons, a code review, or general feedback on the site is always appreciated. The archive in
particular could use a look
because it's a lot of data that could possibly stand to be organized in other ways.
This second list is ways the site could expand that are not possible to even start with the current available
manpower. These are longer-term goals that may not be able to start until parts of the above list are taken care
of or multiple people express capacity to help.
- Live show reviews: would require a blog feed, tags, maybe even a search in addition to
enough people contributing to get it started.
- New release feed/reviews: same as above.
- Show photos: this would be sick for the archive, where you could click an old flier and
then hit a page with flicks from the show. This would absolutely need a major overhaul to how coolshows
handles hosting first, but after that it should be good to go.
If you have the capacity to help with any of these asks across either lists, send an email to coolshows.life@gmail.com.
